Who wouldn't want to look like Mila Kunis? She been voted as the 'sexist women in the world' and has bagged Ashton Kutcher to boot. A natural beauty who loves to vamp it up for special occasions without looking overdone, sexy and classy. She always wears the perfect soft brown smoky eye look which is very flattering to all eye colour especially if using a black eye-shadow for a smoky eye scares you. So let's get on with the smokey eye make up tutorial so you can achieve this look at home.
Always prime your skin before applying any make up. My current favourite is the Smashbox Photo Finish but it's a bit pricey so you can use a good alternative such as the W7 Prime Magic. You don't need to use expensive primers a simple moisturiser will do if primers aren't your thing, or like me make you have mad spot breakouts if you use them too often!
Unless you have the skin of a peach then you'll need to use a concealer to cover any breakouts. I use the Dermablend Concealer Stick as its quite heavy duty and last for a while without looking crusty or melting off your face. This will also help to prep your skin for the next step. If your a brush girl then I'd recommend the Sigma F70 but I prefer using my ring finger or a beauty blender for this as the to allow for easy of blending over specific areas.
Using a heavy coverage foundation such as Mac Cosmetics Face and Body and apply for total coverage with a foundation brush, the Sigma F80 is the foundation brush of the moment. Try to use one shade darker than your usual tone. Why? Well Mila has a tan skin tone and you want this to be reflected in your look. Remember one golden rule with this advice is that you must BLEND BLEND BLEND the colour into your hair, ears and neckline. The look you are going for is flawless not like you've smear nutella on your face! If possible do your make-up in the room with the most natural light to ensure your foundation is well blended before moving on to the next step.
With your ring finger apply an eye primer, such as W7 Eye Prime, from the lashes to the brow along each eye. Repeat for the lower lash line on each eye.
Use a fluffy eye brush such as the Sigma E40 to apply a shimmery taupe base to the eye, I recommend Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Taupe. Apply all over the lid and slightly up onto the brow bone making sure it is blended well to look very soft and smoky. Apply a thick line of the taupe base to the lower lash line and blend it out well with a brush like the Sigma E20.
Contour the Eye crease with a dark copper brown such as Chocolate brown by Mac using the fluffy brush (E40) again to sweep it into the crease and blend into the brown bone for a soft look.
Using a Sigma E55 brush to pack on Crave from the Urban Decay Naked Basics and build up the dark brown into the outer corner of the lids, into the outer crease and slightly up onto the outer brow bone, creating a V shape. Take a thin layer of crave onto the outer lower lash. You're aiming for soft and smoky not harsh so remember to blend the edges out.
Use the Sigma E21 and Mac Fleshy Beige to highlight the inner corners of the eye and down slightly into the inner lower lash, to make the eyes pop.
Use Maybelline Drama Gel Eyeliner in black and line the upper lash with a slight flick at the outer corner. Take the eye-liner and apply to on the lower tight line to give the ultimate 'Mila' look. Meet the upper liner with the lower liner in the outer corner.
If you have straight lashes use a curler and then apply a generous amount of black mascara (Max Factor False Lash Effect gets great reviews). I always wear waterproof mascara as I feel it is longer lasting than normal mascara, but that's just personal preference.
Take a small contour brush (Sigma P88) and use the matte brown down the edge of your nose around the bottom and across at about and an inch from the bottom to shorten the length of your nose as Mila has a small nose.
Use a big blush brush (Sigma F20) and add a neutral colour blush the the apples of your cheeks. The eyes in this look are quite intense so you don't want a bright blush, use something neutral like Rimmel Santa Rose.
Finish off your lips with a neutral colour, again you want to keep this toned down to keep the focus on the eyes. Use a clear gloss or Calvin Klein lipstick in first kiss is the perfect muted tone.
For your eyebrows use a Sigma E75 brush and HD Brows Vamp Palette to define them and give the face a structured look, focusing in on the eye area.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have tried out the look or would like to suggest a make-up look for me to do, then go ahead a leave a comment.
